Naw, you pretty much nailed them. Kempny's is bad, but him going to LTIR kind of erases the issue, at least for this year. Funny how two of these were during this off-season. I like Dillon, but he isn't worth that, and probably a fringe top-4 at this point. Schultz is straight garbage.

Schultz was playing with Jack Johnson in Pittsburgh so I guess he can be better with an half-decent partner.

I think you missed the obvious one here. Worst contract on the Caps for current player value is Nick Jensen, by a long shot IMO. Hagelin and Panik both played well last year but those have been streaky players through their careers - Grabner/Shearyesque. Doubt Hagelin ages well - his game has always been speed. Fully on board with Schultz though - given Caps depth you'd have him playing with Orlov, and I don't like how their games match. You'll need to split them up, and he'll be an expensive 3rd string Damn, even if he has solid upside.

Otherwise I disagree with Dillon - perfect partner for Carlson, and one of the best D-focus Dmen in the league locked in under 4M. The others are fine now, but paying Backstrom big $ until 37 is iffy, and that contract makes me wonder what Ovi's next deal will look like. Next year is the true test - Samsonov, Ovechkin, and Vrana on a flat cap with no big contracts off the books. Recipe for a breakup.

Schultz hands down. Dillon can battle and certainly is a top 4 D on a reasonable contract. Backstrom is not overpaid, at least not yet. He might be later in his contract, but thats speculation. Schultz is soft/defensively questionable, and coming off a very subpar season. I am not sure why they didn't target Vatanen/Gustafsson (maybe they did) with that money instead. Hopefully he bounces back, but he sure didn't have me sold on anything beyond 1 year a 2.5M max.
